{"id":255,"date":"2017-03-25T15:16:20","date_gmt":"2017-03-25T19:16:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/tkaa\/?page_id=255"},"modified":"2018-10-06T17:56:30","modified_gmt":"2018-10-06T21:56:30","slug":"objectives","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/tkaa\/objectives\/","title":{"rendered":"Objectives"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0<em>TDKRA<\/em> project has <strong>three<\/strong> key objectives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To document the situation of girls with disabilities in education in three geographic areas of Vietnam;<\/li>\n<li>To test out the use of interdisciplinary, community-engaged, and participatory methods that engage girls and women with disabilities; and<\/li>\n<li>To build capacity for Disabled People&#8217;s Organizations (DPOs) by engaging them in collaborative research practices which foster collective activism.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We are currently in the third stage of the research process. We aim to focus primarily on deepening our understanding of, and engagement with, the local knowledge by building on the capacity of the local team as a way of fostering their activism for the inclusion of women and girls with disabilities.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Objectives <\/em><\/strong><strong>for the 2-day workshop in March 2018:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Understand more deeply the situation of girls with disabilities through participatory methods (story-telling through interviews or photos\/image narratives about their lived experiences).<\/li>\n<li>Foster relationships among women and girls with disabilities by inviting participants to reflect on how best to support their relationships and networking within the scope of the TDKRA project and beyond.<\/li>\n<li>Develop DPOs\u2019 capacity in conducting disability research and activism by strengthening their leadership and support networks that engage women and girls with disabilities in research activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Objectives for the 2-day workshop in May 2018:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Engage women and girls with disabilities more deeply in media stories.<\/li>\n<li>Foster the participants\u2019 connection between research and activism by building on their politics of engagement and local networks.<\/li>\n<li>Strengthen DPOs\u2019 capacity and leaderships in relation to disability research and activism.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Objectives for the\u00a0 4-day workshop in July 2018:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Engage more deeply with the stories of the girls with disabilities by reflecting on the stories they shared in the previous phases.<\/li>\n<li>Foster the participants\u2019 engagement with one another by strengthening their networks and developing an action plan for collective activism.<\/li>\n<li>Strengthen DPOs\u2019 capacity and leaderships in relation to disability research and activism.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0TDKRA project has three key objectives: To document the situation of girls with disabilities in education in three geographic areas of Vietnam;
