This is an introductory-level session on the Brightspace Gradebook. There is also an Intermediate/Advanced Gradebook session that you may want to register for following this workshop.
The Brightspace gradebook is a powerful tool to help you manage grades and communicate feedback to students. From displaying grades, to providing important text-based comments, to calculating students’ final marks, the gradebook helps you keep track of, and communicate, important details about student progress in your course.
In this introductory session, we’ll talk about navigating the interface, setting up your gradebook, and configuring key settings.
By the end of this session, you will know how to:
- Navigate the gradebook
- Add grade items
- Use the gradebook set up wizard
- Control the visibility of grade items and categories
- Enter grades and feedback
- Exempt grades from final grade calculation
- Export and import grades
This technical session is intended for participants who are new to the Brightspace gradebook with beginner-level or early-developing skills. The focus will be on building technical understanding using screen sharing demonstrations. A basic knowledge of Brightspace is required to get the most out of this session. It is best to attend the Brightspace Basics workshop before attending this workshop.
