Digital Storytelling

February 7, 2023 at 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM

Cost:Free

Facilitators: Hasi Eldib (Video Producer and Digital Media Specialist), Nina Doré (Educational Development Facilitator, Strategic Initiatives)

Digital storytelling as a pedagogical tool combines photographs, video, animation, sound, music, text, and a narrative voice to engage, teach, and inspire. Good stories in classrooms build familiarity and trust and allow students to enter the story where they are, making them more open to learning, and making difficult concepts more relatable. Join this workshop to learn how you can integrate digital storytelling into your course and invite your students to create digital stories of their own.

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Explain why stories matter and how they are important for learning.
  • Identify the range of opportunities (mediums, genres, etc.) for integrating engaging storytelling activities into your course.
  • Articulate how to align storytelling activities with your course outcomes.
  • Recognize the possible media supports (equipment, workflow, resources, etc.) you might need for digital storytelling activities.

Space is limited. Please register in advance by filling out the form below.
