Encouraging Student Participation with Polling Activities

September 2, 2022 at 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM

Student response systems such as polling platforms stimulate class participation and promote sustained interest in lecture materials. In this workshop, we will explore how polls and open-ended questions enhance or direct discussions, track participation, facilitate live testing, and guide your teaching strategy. We will also demonstrate how polling can play an important role in flipped classrooms. Well-deigned polls lead to greater student enjoyment and a deeper understanding of your topics.By the end of this session, you’ll be ready to:

  • Design effective in-class polling activities and questions.
  • Use student response systems to increase attendance and participation.
  • Develop graded student response activities that track attendance and comprehension.
  • Build student enthusiasm during class.

NOTE: This session will be hosted in Zoom and recorded to provide asynchronous access for those who cannot attend the scheduled date.
