Additionally, they allow us to reach out to and actively engage course participants, and to frequently gauge students\u2019 progress.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">In this online session, we will showcase several \u201cbest-selling\u201d engagement and communication online activities, which have been successfully incorporated in many Carleton courses in previous years, and we will focus on the\u00a0<i>pedagogical principles<\/i>\u00a0behind them, rather than technical solutions. The activities we will discuss include:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Weekly Announcements<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Ask the Instructor forum<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Introductory course activities<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Synchronous online meetings and engagement<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Discussion forums<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Student feedback<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Weekly learning responses<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Quizzes for learning<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\u201cPath to success&#8221; in your course<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">If you complete this workshop, you should be able to:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Recall several questions to consider when planning communication activities during course design phase<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Explain why communication as an essential element of teaching and engagement<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Implement strategies to engage and communicate with students online<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\u201cPath to success in your course\u201d module<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><b>This is part of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/tls\/events-and-programs\/programs\/course-design-fundamentals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"4\">Course Design Fundamentals<\/a>,\u00a0<\/b><\/em><strong><i>offered by TLS.
