{"id":12664,"date":"2018-07-09T08:18:39","date_gmt":"2018-07-09T12:18:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/teachinglearning\/?post_type=cu_people&#038;p=12664"},"modified":"2026-05-06T13:29:01","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T17:29:01","slug":"adrian-chan-2","status":"publish","type":"cu_people","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/tls\/people\/adrian-chan-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Adrian Chan"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"mb-6 cu-pageheader cu-component-updated md:mb-12\">\n    <h1 class=\"cu-prose-first-last font-semibold !mt-2 mb-4 md:mb-6 text-3xl md:text-4xl lg:text-5xl lg:leading-[3.5rem] relative after:absolute after:h-px after:bottom-0 pb-5 after:w-10 after:bg-cu-red after:left-px\">\n                    \n             \n                \n            <\/h1>\n\n    \n    <\/header>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to taking on the role of Interim Associate Vice-President (Teaching and Learning), Adrian served as Assistant Vice-President (Academic) in the Office of the Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President (Academic), where he supported the university\u2019s academic quality assurance processes and was instrumental in leading and promoting program and curriculum development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adrian is a professor in the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering and Director of Carleton\u2019s Research and Education in Accessibility, Design, and Innovation (READi) training program funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) of Canada through its Collaborative Research and Training Experience (CREATE) program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since his arrival at Carleton in 2002, Adrian has distinguished himself as a scholar and teacher and has been recognized repeatedly by colleagues and students for his exceptional teaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He received a Capital Educator Award in 2008, identifying him as one of the region\u2019s most innovative and respected educators, and a 3M National Teaching Fellowship in 2012, which recognized him as one of the country\u2019s most exceptional university teachers. He has also received the Faculty Graduate Mentoring Award and Provost Teaching Fellow Award.
