{"id":42476,"date":"2021-11-08T21:47:48","date_gmt":"2021-11-09T02:47:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/tls\/?post_type=cu_people&#038;p=42476"},"modified":"2026-05-06T13:29:01","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T17:29:01","slug":"kahente-horn-miller","status":"publish","type":"cu_people","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/tls\/people\/kahente-horn-miller\/","title":{"rendered":"Kahente\u00a0Horn-Miller"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"mb-6 cu-pageheader cu-component-updated md:mb-12\">\n    <h1 class=\"cu-prose-first-last font-semibold !mt-2 mb-4 md:mb-6 text-3xl md:text-4xl lg:text-5xl lg:leading-[3.5rem] relative after:absolute after:h-px after:bottom-0 pb-5 after:w-10 after:bg-cu-red after:left-px\">\n                    \n             \n                \n            <\/h1>\n\n    \n    <\/header>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Kahente&nbsp;Horn-Miller<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;is an Associate Professor in the&nbsp;School of Indigenous and Canadian Studies&nbsp;and currently holds the inaugural position of Assistant Vice-President (Indigenous Initiatives).&nbsp;Since starting at Carleton in 2014, she has worked to implement several Indigenous initiatives such as successfully advocating for the name change of her department from the School of Canadian Studies to the School of Indigenous and Canadian Studies, the Collaborative Indigenous Learning Bundles, Indigenous Learning Place consultations and the Carleton University&nbsp;Strategic&nbsp;Indigenous Initiatives Committee consultations which culminated in the&nbsp;Kin\u00e0m\u00e0gawin&nbsp;Report.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Kahente&nbsp;is the chosen recipient of the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/tls\/2021\/meet-the-winner-of-the-2021-provosts-fellowship-in-teaching-award\/\">2021&nbsp;Provost\u2019s Fellowship in Teaching Award<\/a> for her ongoing commitment to fostering relationships and engagement between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples that go beyond the written word, classroom and research settings.
