<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"about-the-program\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the Program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Course Design Fundamentals (CDF) is a voluntary, online, self-paced program made up of six modules for Carleton instructors who want to strengthen their course design strategies, regardless of teaching experience, modality or class size.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As you work through the program, you can choose to complete individual modules based on your interests.\u00a0You\u2019ll\u00a0also have opportunities to engage with module facilitators, receive individualized feedback on your activity submissions, contribute to discussion forums and view the posts shared by your colleagues. If you\u2019d like additional support, you can also connect with program facilitators for one-on-one consultations to help you apply these ideas directly to your own course design.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you complete five modules (four core and one elective) and a short reflection, you will receive formal recognition, a TLS letter of completion.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"learning-outcomes\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Learning Outcomes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The CDF program is designed to support instructors in their teaching practice so that they can:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Plan and design foundational elements of a course&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Explain and apply the process of aligning fundamental course elements&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Distinguish between types of assessment based on their purpose and role in learning&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Explore and apply motivational principles to support student engagement in learning environments&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select and implement effective strategies for fostering active learning in different course modalities&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"program-requirements\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Program Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To complete the program, you need to finish all four core modules and at least one elective module. Each module includes its own completion instructions and activities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are four core modules and two elective modules, recommended in the following sequence:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Core modules<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>M1: Introduction to Course Design&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>M2: Learning Outcomes&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>M3: Assessment Fundamentals&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>M4: Improving Course Design through Alignment&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Elective modules<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>E1: Motivational Design for Learning&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>E2: Incorporating Activities into Lectures&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you complete\u00a0the four core\u00a0modules\u00a0and one elective module, a reflection paper assignment will become available. To complete the program, you must\u00a0submit\u00a0the assignment and receive feedback from one of the facilitators.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"register-for-cdf\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Register for CDF<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To register for the program, take the following steps:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Login to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/brightspace.carleton.ca\/d2l\/login\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Brightspace<\/a>&nbsp;using your MC1 login credentials&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the \u201cDiscover\u201d button&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the Search feature to find \u201cCourse Design Fundamentals\u201d&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the new page, click on the \u201cEnrol in Course\u201d button&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"instructor-testimonials\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Instructor Testimonials<\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"not-prose cu-quote cu-component-spacing\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"x_xmsonormal\"><em>\u201cThe journey through these (CDF) workshops has been transformative, reshaping my educational approach in profound ways.
