The Future Learning Innovation Fellowship<\/strong> provides funding and support for instructors to explore innovative technologies that address defined teaching and learning challenges, such as enhancing student engagement or improving student success. Fellowships run for 12 months<\/strong>. For the 2026 call, we are prioritizing applications that incorporate the theme of immersive learning and digital storytelling. A total of five fellowships will be awarded.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Eligibility<\/strong><\/h2>\n

All Carleton CUASA members are eligible to apply.<\/p>\n

Funding<\/strong><\/h2>\n
    \n
  • $5,000 per project<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • Funds may be received as direct compensation (taxable as salary). We are additionally seeking clarity from the university’s financial authority on whether the funds could optionally be deposited into an internal university account and administered directly by the participant.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Focus Areas<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    Projects must focus on leveraging\u00a0immersive learning technologies and\/or digital storytelling<\/strong> to support student engagement, experiential learning, student success, digital literacies\/skills, or other aspects of teaching and learning.<\/p>\n

    Support<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    Successful fellows will receive:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Support from Teaching and Learning Services, including the team members of the Experiential Learning Hub<\/li>\n
    • Prioritized access to development resources, including:\n
        \n
      • Students as Partners Program<\/li>\n
      • Educational development and technology support<\/li>\n
      • Immersive media and digital storytelling assistance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Project Requirements<\/strong><\/h2>\n

        Successful applicants must commit to sharing findings and reflections through an academic output, such as:<\/p>\n

          \n
        • A journal article or book chapter<\/li>\n
        • Conference presentations<\/li>\n
        • TLS-organized showcases\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Evaluation Criteria<\/strong><\/h2>\n

          Applications will be evaluated based on:<\/p>\n

            \n
          • Eligibility<\/li>\n
          • Clarity of the teaching problem being addressed<\/li>\n
          • Potential to engage or impact a diverse student population<\/li>\n
          • Incorporation of immersive or digital storytelling approaches in education<\/li>\n
          • Project assessment plan (success is not mandatory; measurable outcomes and indicators are required)<\/li>\n
          • A detailed budget (if applicable)<\/li>\n
          • Commitment to collaboration, community participation and dissemination of results<\/li>\n
          • A letter of support from applicant\u2019s department chair<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
