As instructional designers, we can work with you to address pedagogical as well as technical aspects of the following (and much more):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>your course\u2019s assessments<\/li>\n<li>learning activities and content delivery<\/li>\n<li>interactions with or between students<\/li>\n<li>how all these pieces fit together<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>How can we help your course reach its desired outcomes and experiences for students, instructors and teaching assistants? Book a <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/tls\/get-support\/\">course consultation<\/a> through the Jira Support Portal for help with a specific issue, or just to learn how we can help you.<\/p>\n<p>Below are some examples of what we can discuss or build with you:<\/p>\n<h3>Overall and Cohesive Course Design<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide feedback on a course\u2019s syllabus\/outline and learning outcomes<\/li>\n<li>Align a course\u2019s learning outcomes with the assessments, activities and content<\/li>\n<li>Align a course\u2019s outcomes and content with program\/departmental outcomes and curriculum map<\/li>\n<li>Support instructors\u2019 work to materialize their course design within Brightspace and <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/tls\/educational-technology\/supported-educational-technology\/\">other TLS-supported educational technology tools<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Provide an inclusive course environment through\n<ul>\n<li>designing a variety of ways for students to interact, be assessed, and consume course material (Universal Design for Learning or UDL)<\/li>\n<li>diversifying course content (and other EDI improvements)<\/li>\n<li>ensuring accessibility of a course&#8217;s PowerPoint or Word documents, videos, text, or Brightspace course<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Develop templates for Brightspace, content, PowerPoint slides etc.<\/li>\n<li>Optimize the organization of a course\u2019s content and assessments in Brightspace<\/li>\n<li>Improve visual design and\/or create a custom look\/brand for a course<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Course Assessments, Activities and Content<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Strengthen students\u2019 engagement with course content, course instructor and each other<\/li>\n<li>Select or design effective assessments to\n<ul>\n<li>monitor student learning and provide ongoing feedback<\/li>\n<li>evaluate student learning and performance at the end of a course or unit<\/li>\n<li>incorporate student media creation and other innovative strategies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Design or improve multiple choice questions<\/li>\n<li>Design experiential learning activities<\/li>\n<li>Design student group work and peer assessment<\/li>\n<li>Create engaging course content and activities via lesson planning<\/li>\n<li>Integrate Collaborative Indigenous Learning Bundles, library support or FUSION modules into a course<\/li>\n<li>Incorporate student feedback checkpoints<\/li>\n<li>Create a communication plan<\/li>\n<li>Incorporate active and experiential learning activities<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate students\u2019 academic skills development, and\/or transition to university<\/li>\n<li>Select and maximize use of\n<ul>\n<li>instructional digital tools within Brightspace including quizzes, discussion forums, gradebook, rubrics, and learning analytics<\/li>\n<li>a select group of instructional digital tools external to, or integrated with Brightspace, such as Zoom, Kaltura lecture recording tools, cuPortfolio, H5P, PollEverywhere)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Could you benefit from any of the above?
