It was a very challenging time to adapt to a new job, a new country and a new life in Ottawa (Canada).

Looking back at my experience when I was offered a teaching position at Carleton, the adaptation process was very easy. Carleton offered excellent opportunities to connect to others in the same situation. Throughout the orientation for new faculty and the EDC’s Certificate in University Teaching program, people were welcoming and warm. I have learned a lot about the quality of teaching in this institution and the priority is to support faculty and staff in achieving this.

Carleton has numerous channels for professional growth. In the term of one and a half years, I have been cross-appointed between Civil Engineering and Architecture and I have joined the Carleton Immersive Media Studio (CIMS). I am also leading two international projects in Morocco and Peru in collaboration with the Getty Conservation Institute.

This upcoming year, I face the challenge of continuing the development of the Architectural Conservational and Sustainability program in both architecture and civil engineering along with my colleagues, as well as obtaining research funds to continue work on this exciting field.

Carleton has been a great platform for professional and personal growth.
