When you sign up for an EDC certificate program, you get the chance to develop your teaching skills and connect with colleagues from across campus. Whether you\u2019re preparing to teach your first class, exploring blended and online teaching or interested in discovering new approaches to instruction, the EDC provides a number of avenues for you to develop as an educator.<\/p>\n

Certificate in Blended and Online Teaching<\/strong><\/a>
\nOur Certificate in Blended and Online Teaching is the first of its kind in Ontario. It aims to help faculty and instructors develop the confidence and skills necessary to teach blended and online courses. Participants will develop a plan for designing an online course and create an online module for an upcoming course. They\u2019ll also learn how to engage and motivate students in online learning environments and evaluate available educational technologies in relation to learning outcomes. This program will run Tuesdays from 1-4 p.m. beginning Jan. 20 and ending March 31.*<\/p>\n

Certificate in University Teaching<\/strong><\/a>
\nFacilitated by 3M teaching fellow, Dr. Anthony Marini, this program features a microteaching component and gives faculty and instructors the opportunity to develop a framework to design lectures, develop effective assessment strategies and identify ways to enhance student engagement in their classes. This program will run on Wednesdays from 1-4 p.m. beginning Jan. 21 and ending April 1.*<\/p>\n

Preparing to Teach<\/strong><\/a>
\nSpecifically geared towards PhD candidates who are preparing for a career in academia, this program gives participants hands-on experience with a range of teaching and assessment methods, teaches them to manage both large and small classes, and addresses teaching and learning issues particular to their disciplines. This program will run Thursdays from 1-4 p.m., starting Jan. 29 and ending Apr. 2.*<\/p>\n
