{"id":16179,"date":"2015-01-14T09:05:07","date_gmt":"2015-01-14T14:05:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/edc\/?p=16179"},"modified":"2021-08-13T10:16:26","modified_gmt":"2021-08-13T14:16:26","slug":"teaching-roundtable-engineering-flipped-classroom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/tls\/2015\/teaching-roundtable-engineering-flipped-classroom\/","title":{"rendered":"Teaching Roundtable: Engineering a Flipped Classroom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Friday, Feb. 6, join the EDC and Systems and Computer Engineering instructor Shermeen Nizami as she shares her experience flipping a fourth-year engineering course.<\/p>\n<p>With a big push towards enhancing student engagement at Carleton, Shermeen incorporated a number of elements into her course to improve the student learning experience, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Blended learning through cuLearn<\/li>\n<li>Introduction, Reinforcement, Mastery and Assessment (IRMA) skill level curriculum map<\/li>\n<li>Engineering Graduate Attribute Development (EGAD)<\/li>\n<li>Bloom\u2019s taxonomy<\/li>\n<li>Components of Carleton\u2019s teaching and learning framework<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>During this roundtable, she\u2019ll reveal her observations of the impact these initiatives had on both the students and the instructor.<\/p>\n<p>The roundtable runs from 12-1 p.m. in room 422 Dunton Tower.
