Join us on January 22 to learn how two Carleton faculty members have been able to bring their classrooms into the Ottawa community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesse Stewart, from the Department of Music, will discuss several examples of community-engaged pedagogy drawn from his experiences teaching music at Carleton and in the wider community.Professor Stewart will be joined by Andrew Sproule, a candidate in the Music and Culture masters program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aaron Doyle, from the Department of Sociology, along with Sociology PhD students Deborah Conners and Laura McKendy, will discuss experiences teaching a course in Community Engaged Sociology, featuring students working in small teams with community organizations to research and advocate on social issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through specific examples, the speakers will share what they found to be most rewarding and most difficult in teaching and learning through community engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The session runs from 12-1 p.m. in room 422 Dunton Tower.
