{"id":18838,"date":"2016-06-28T09:01:26","date_gmt":"2016-06-28T13:01:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/edc\/?p=18838"},"modified":"2021-08-13T10:13:11","modified_gmt":"2021-08-13T14:13:11","slug":"discover-create-inclusivity-classroom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/tls\/2016\/discover-create-inclusivity-classroom\/","title":{"rendered":"Discover how to create inclusivity in the classroom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Inclusivity is one of the core values adopted by\u00a0many post-secondary institutions, including Carleton.\u00a0Our challenge as educators is to relate these values to everyday teaching practices.<\/p>\n<p>Join us from August 2-4 for our\u00a0summer institute &#8211; <em>A Classroom for All Students<\/em> &#8211; and discover how to create an inclusive environment in your classes.<\/p>\n<p>By the end of this three-day interactive institute, you&#8217;ll be able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Identify barriers to, and facilitators of, inclusivity across areas of course design<\/li>\n<li>Evaluate inclusive modes of assessments, learning activities, and facilitation practices<\/li>\n<li>Use diversity\/inclusivity as a framework to assess your own teaching practices<\/li>\n<li>Apply the principles of universal design to create\/re-design an assessment, learning activity, or facilitation practice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The sessions run from 9:30 a.m. &#8211; 3:30 p.m. each day.\u00a0A light lunch will be provided.<\/p>\n<p>Space is limited, so <a href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/edc\/cu-events\/summer-institute-classroom-students\/\">register today<\/a>!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Inclusivity is one of the core values adopted by\u00a0many post-secondary institutions, including Carleton.\u00a0Our challenge as educators is to relate these values to everyday teaching practices.
