Academic writing is not the same as writing for the web. Or is it? And, if it is, how can we teach students to write in a way that is scholarly and appropriate for web\u2013based projects?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Join us at the EDC on July 11 from 10-11:30 a.m. for a workshop that will introduce three simple rules for teaching students to write content for online projects that bridge the online and academic worlds (e.g. projects based in cuPortfolio).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will have the&nbsp;opportunity to apply one of these tips in a group-based writing exercise and will leave the workshop with a good understanding of what makes good web-based writing and how to work with your students to provide them with clear guidelines for doing so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This workshop is a good choice for instructors who wish to make experiential learning part of student engagement in their classes.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\"><div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button left\" href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/edc\/cu_event\/oh-what-a-web-we-weave-teaching-students-to-write-web-based-class-projects\/\">Register here<\/a><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Learning to write in a variety of genres is challenging for students.
