Carleton University is pleased to join a growing list of partners of The Conversation<\/i><\/b>, a unique digital journalism platform that launched in June 2017 to boost the visibility of Canada\u2019s academic faculty and researchers.<\/p>\n
Since we are always looking for ways to shine a light on our amazing people, it seemed like a great fit.<\/p>\n
The Conversation<\/em> provides our faculty and PhD students with new opportunities to tell compelling stories about their discoveries and how they are solving real-world problems. And the best part is that there is a team of professional editors available to help unlock their knowledge and polish their prose for the wider world.<\/p>\n Carleton already has a presence on the platform. But we\u2019d like to grow it by encouraging other faculty members and PhDs under supervision by an academic to consider trying their hands at writing insightful and independent analysis.<\/p>\n That\u2019s why we\u2019re offering five 1.5-hour information sessions on Thursday, Oct. 25 and Friday, Oct. 26, 2018 with editor Scott White.<\/p>\n Carleton authors can pitch ideas directly to The Conversation<\/em> or funnel them through the Department of University Communications (DUC). The platform sends out editorial content requests to us on a regular basis also and DUC reaches out to academics who might be willing to write about a given topic.<\/p>\n\n\n
