We are less than one month away from the launch of\u00a0<\/span>Carleton’s\u00a0<\/span>academic<\/span>\u00a0courses<\/span>\u00a0i<\/span>n\u00a0<\/span>Brigh<\/span>t<\/span>space<\/span><\/a>!\u202f<\/span>Starting May 6,\u00a0<\/span>Brightspace by D2L will replace\u00a0<\/span>cuLearn<\/span>\u00a0as Carleton\u2019s Learning Management System (LMS)<\/span>.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Five years of course content has already been migrated<\/span>\u00a0to the new system \u2013\u00a0<\/span>approximately\u00a0<\/span>22<\/span>,000<\/span>\u00a0courses are ready for review in Brightspace. As you plan your new Brightspace course, consider whether you’d like to start fresh or review and use existing content.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Starting Fresh<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Carleton’s new LMS offers an opportunity for a fresh look at your course design. If you plan to start from scratch, check out TLS’s course creation resources on the\u202f<\/span>Brightspace Support\u00a0<\/span>s<\/span>ite<\/span><\/a>. There you’ll find\u00a0<\/span>course s<\/span>etup resources<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/a>such as the\u202f<\/span>Course Setup Checklist<\/span><\/a>, the\u202f<\/span>Brightspace Glossary,<\/span><\/a>\u202fthe\u202f<\/span>Brightspace Tool<\/span>s Course<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and\u202f<\/span>c<\/span>ourse\u00a0<\/span>t<\/span>emplates<\/span><\/a>. Migrated Content<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If<\/span>\u00a0you are planning to use existing content migrated from a previous\u00a0<\/span>cuLearn<\/span>\u00a0course, take some time to compar<\/span>e<\/span>\u00a0your\u00a0<\/span>cuLearn<\/span>\u00a0course with the migrated content in Brightspace. Make note of what’s missing or what will need revision. In particular, if you had question banks in\u00a0<\/span>cuLearn<\/span>\u00a0with complicated question types, such as calculated multiple choice, math equations or randomized question pools, your question banks may need some extra attention. Review the\u202f<\/span>Quiz Question Migration Guide<\/span><\/a>\u202fto see how your questions are likely to migrate.\u00a0<\/span>T<\/span>he\u202f<\/span>Course Migration Resource<\/span>s page<\/span><\/a>\u202f<\/span>also has<\/span>\u00a0lots of additional helpful materials, such as\u202f<\/span>the<\/span>\u202f<\/span>cuLearn<\/span>\u00a0to B<\/span>rightspace Tool Crosswalk<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>for an overview of what to\u202fexpect.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
