Jason is active in developing and using engaging approaches for organizing,\u00a0communicating\u00a0and tailoring\u00a0course content\u00a0for diverse learning styles.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Jason\u00a0is\u00a0a\u00a0chosen recipient of the 2021\u00a0New Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award\u00a0for\u00a0his\u00a0dedication and passion for sharing knowledge, and supporting students in achieving success, both inside and outside the classroom.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sjc\/profile\/popplewellbrett\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Brett\u00a0Popplewell<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u202fis\u00a0currently\u00a0an\u00a0Assistant Professor\u00a0in the\u00a0School of Journalism\u202fand Communication.\u00a0Since starting at Carleton in\u00a02017,\u00a0he\u00a0has\u00a0created three courses from scratch and\u00a0worked to implement several initiatives such as\u00a0playing\u00a0 a\u00a0lead role in the Journalism program\u2019s efforts to create an anti-racist and equitable learning environment, helping to drive the creation of an Equity Checklist for course instructors, establishing the new Future of Journalism Initiative\u00a0and launching a Carleton collaboration with Maclean\u2019s magazine where reporting students research and write obituaries on victims of COVID-19.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Brett\u00a0is\u00a0a\u00a0chosen recipient of the 2021\u00a0New Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award\u00a0for\u00a0the\u00a0innovation,\u00a0energy and excitement\u00a0he dedicates to his teaching beyond the classroom.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/psychology\/people\/deanna-whelan\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Deanna\u00a0Whelan<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">is an\u00a0Instructor\u00a0II\u00a0in the\u00a0Department\u00a0of Psychology\u00a0responsible for teaching advanced statistic and research methods.\u00a0Since starting\u00a0her Instructor II role\u00a0at Carleton in\u00a02017,\u00a0Deanna\u00a0has worked to\u00a0design and develop tools\u00a0for students that\u00a0promote mastery of material, strengthen positive work habits, and retain the\u00a0skills\u00a0necessary to succeed in future courses, employment and as a member of society.\u00a0Outside of the classroom, Deanna has supported the Carleton community through hosting educational development workshops, acting as a teaching mentor, participating in the Brightspace pilot, and presenting at the Teaching\u00a0Statistics in Psychology Conference.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Deanna\u00a0is\u00a0a\u00a0chosen recipient of the 2021\u00a0New Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award\u00a0for\u00a0the\u00a0high energy and positive spirit she\u00a0brings to the classroom and Carleton community at large.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jason\u00a0Jaskolka\u202fis an Assistant Professor in the\u00a0Department of Systems and Computer Engineering.\u00a0Since starting at Carleton in\u00a02017,\u00a0he\u00a0has worked to\u00a0instill a deep understanding in students, founded\u00a0on three central pillars: help all students realize their full potential; prepare the next generation of engineers to\u00a0solve\u00a0the problems of tomorrow; and inspire people to get excited about cyber security.
