Prior to winter 2020, she had never taught an online course, however in response to the COVID-19 pandemic&nbsp;C\u00e9line&nbsp;designed and implemented well-structured, interactive, and engaging experiences for students to improve their French language skills. Utilizing a blended flipped classroom approach,&nbsp;C\u00e9line&nbsp;was able to provide students with asynchronous content to meet course objectives, while still providing synchronous class opportunities for students to engage with her and each other.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In recognition of her innovation,&nbsp;C\u00e9line&nbsp;is a chosen recipient of the 2021&nbsp;Excellence in Blended and Online Teaching Award&nbsp;for&nbsp;her&nbsp;exceptional impact on student learning in an online environment.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/aah\/people\/peter-coffman\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Peter Coffman<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u202fis an&nbsp;Associate Professor&nbsp;in the&nbsp;School for Studies in Art and Culture.&nbsp;Since starting at Carleton, he has made efforts to explore the&nbsp;history, meaning and social significance of the built environment, and how it both reflects and shapes human circumstances.&nbsp;At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic,&nbsp;Peter found himself unprepared with only poorly recorded versions of lectures that had been designed for classroom delivery. As a result of his determination to create a quality online course for his students Peter created two asynchronous courses&nbsp;for his students utilizing a&nbsp;combination&nbsp;of&nbsp;material&nbsp;such as&nbsp;lectures,&nbsp;podcasts, weekly discussion forms and other asynchronous engagement tools.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In recognition of&nbsp;his dedication, Peter&nbsp;is&nbsp;a&nbsp;chosen recipient of the 2021&nbsp;Excellence in Blended and Online Teaching Award&nbsp;for&nbsp;his&nbsp;exceptional impact on student learning in an online environment.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sjc\/profile\/graham-katie\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Katelyn Graham<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u202fis&nbsp;an&nbsp;Instructor II&nbsp;in the&nbsp;School of Journalism and Communication.&nbsp;Since starting at Carleton,&nbsp;she has focused on the relationship between architecture and virtual reality storytelling, focusing on how the emerging medium introduces new narrative possibilities.&nbsp;In response to the COVID-19 pandemic,&nbsp;Katelyn decided that rather than attempt to convert the content of her Bachelor of Media Production and Design (BMPD) courses online, she would use her lessons as case study for her students to learn how technology can be used for fact-based storytelling. The result was six engaging courses that kept students attentive in a challenging year.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In recognition of her innovation, Katelyn&nbsp;is&nbsp;a&nbsp;chosen recipient of the&nbsp;2021&nbsp;Excellence in Blended and Online Teaching Award&nbsp;for&nbsp;her&nbsp;exceptional impact on student learning in an online environment.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/bhum\/people\/d-gregory-macisaac\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Gregory MacIsaac<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u202fis an&nbsp;Associate Professor&nbsp;in the&nbsp;College of the Humanities. Since starting at Carleton,&nbsp;he&nbsp;has&nbsp;to worked to develop the HUMS1200, \u201cHumanities and&nbsp;Classical&nbsp;Civilisation\u201d course as a model for First-year writing at Carleton and beyond \u2013 for which he was awarded the 2018 Teaching Achievement Award. In&nbsp;response to the COVID-19 pandemic,&nbsp;Gregory&nbsp;converted the whole course to a blended model,&nbsp;by shifting previous PowerPoint presentations into asynchronous self study units. This change provided students with the extra time they required to process course materials and increased their overall levels of success.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In recognition of these efforts, Gregory&nbsp;is&nbsp;a&nbsp;chosen recipient of the&nbsp;2021&nbsp;Excellence in Blended and Online Teaching Award&nbsp;for&nbsp;his&nbsp;exceptional impact on student learning in an online environment.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/bgins\/people\/marylynn-steckley\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Marylynn&nbsp;Steckley<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u202f&nbsp;is an&nbsp;Instructor III&nbsp;in the Arthur Kroeger College of Public Affairs. Since starting at Carleton,&nbsp;she&nbsp;has worked&nbsp;as the main faculty contributor to the&nbsp;BGInS&nbsp;International Experience Requirement and is responsible for having developed&nbsp;both&nbsp;Canada\u2019s first ever virtual&nbsp;international e-volunteering experiential&nbsp;learning course (GINS3100)&nbsp;and&nbsp;Canada\u2019s first ever&nbsp;virtual experiential learning field school&nbsp;in global studies (GINS3300).
