I am currently finishing my third year of International Business at Carleton University. For the past 10 months I have been in Valencia, Spain. Throughout the year I took a variety of business courses, from marketing, to sales, to finance.<\/p>\n
I learned many things about culture and people, especially not to judge a culture by its stereotypes. I also learned so much about myself. I realized that when you go through new experiences, you add the things you\u2019ve seen and learned to your personality and it enhances your perspective on life. I learned that you are created by the obstacles you face, the things you experience and the opportunities and risks you take.<\/p>\n
Other than benefiting me personally, this year has contributed to my studies. Every culture teaches and practices business in different ways because they have different values. I got to see Spanish, Dutch, German, French and American business styles and approaches while giving my Canadian opinion. It was an amazing experience that gave me insight on how real-life international companies work every day. It confirmed what I want to do as a profession: work for a multinational company.<\/p>\n
Going to an international business school allowed me to network, creating life-long relationships and business connections. I made friends from all over the world, including Germany, Belgium, Italy, France and the United States. I really value this year and all the knowledge I\u2019ve gained from the professors, the students and the culture. This experience has certainly\u00a0put into perspective the fact that there are multiple ways through which things can be accomplished.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
