Members of the Carleton community are encouraged to submit sustainability projects to the Green Revolving Fund Committee which will review applications and make suggestions for funding allocation.<\/p>\n<p>Visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www1.carleton.ca\/fmp\/energy-and-sustainability\/green-revolving-fund\/\">here<\/a>\u00a0for more information on the application process.<\/p>\n<p><b>Students as innovators and implementers in a greener campus<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www6.carleton.ca\/discoverycentre\/ccms\/wp-content\/ccms-files\/environmental-studies-art.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-1345\" alt=\"environmental studies art\" src=\"http:\/\/www6.carleton.ca\/discoverycentre\/ccms\/wp-content\/ccms-files\/environmental-studies-art-400x449.jpg\" width=\"216\" height=\"242\" \/><\/a>Carleton encourages students to participate in the innovation and implementation process of creating a more sustainable campus. A student will be chosen as a member of the Green Revolving Fund Committee to participate in the evaluation process of different proposals. Students are also encouraged to create and submit sustainability-related projects for review by the Green Revolving Fund Committee.<\/p>\n<p>An undergraduate student and a graduate student will also participate in the multi-stakeholder sustainability advisory committee on campus operations.<\/p>\n<p>Carleton students have already been creating environmentally-focused projects as a <a href=\"http:\/\/www6.carleton.ca\/discoverycentre\/2013\/the-food-waste-to-fertilizer-story\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">team of engineering students<\/a> recently won $7,000 in the <a href=\"http:\/\/newsroom.carleton.ca\/2013\/03\/01\/carleton-engineering-team-takes-home-cash-prize-in-walmart-green-student-challenge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Walmart Green Student Challenge.<\/a>\u00a0Further opportunities for creating a culture of sustainability on campus are a high priority and student participation is a valued part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www1.carleton.ca\/fmp\/energy-and-sustainability\/sustainability-strategic-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sustainability Strategic Plan<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>By Heather McAlister<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As part of \u201cA Strategic Plan for Embedding Sustainability into Carleton University Operations,\u201d Carleton has established a $1 million Green Revolving Fund for sustainability-related projects on campus.
