{"id":43922,"date":"2022-04-29T14:33:47","date_gmt":"2022-04-29T18:33:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/tls\/?p=43922"},"modified":"2022-05-02T12:58:43","modified_gmt":"2022-05-02T16:58:43","slug":"2021-22-outstanding-ta-award-winners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/tls\/2022\/2021-22-outstanding-ta-award-winners\/","title":{"rendered":"2021-22 Outstanding TA Award Winners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Teaching and Learning Services is pleased to announce the five outstanding teaching assistants (TAs) and three honourable mentions for the 2021-22<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/tls\/teaching-assistants\/outstanding-ta-award\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/tls\/teaching-assistants\/outstanding-ta-award\/\"> Outstanding TA Awards<\/a>. The awards celebrate\u00a0the support TAs give to the undergraduate and graduate programs in their disciplines, their roles in establishing a positive learning environment, and their work in implementing innovative teaching practices.<\/p>\n<p>The awards committee was impressed with the strength and versatility of the nominations as well as Carleton TAs\u2019 dedication to enhancing student learning. After much deliberation, the following five TAs were selected as this year\u2019s recipients of the award:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Alex MacLellan PADM 5125\/5126<\/li>\n<li>Anand Chopra BIOC 3103\/3104<\/li>\n<li>Esme Song CHST 3205<\/li>\n<li>Nick Hayes SOCI 1001<\/li>\n<li>Tori Semple PSYC 3400<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Because we received so many strong nominations, the adjudication committee wanted to recognize and celebrate three additional TAs through honourable mentions. This year\u2019s honourable mentions for the award are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dessa Bayrock ENGL 1500<\/li>\n<li>James Vellan PSYC 3000<\/li>\n<li>Nora Abushaban SOCI 1001<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All winners and honourable mentions will receive a certificate and all five winners will receive $250 to recognize their commitment to student learning.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to all recipients, honourable mentions, and nominees for the 2021-22 Outstanding Teaching Assistant Awards, and thank you to the hundreds of students, peers and instructors who took the time to recognize the fine work of Carleton\u2019s TAs!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Teaching and Learning Services is pleased to announce the five outstanding teaching assistants (TAs) and three honourable mentions for the 2021-22 Outstanding TA Awards.
