For the purposes of paid pedagogical training hours, please note the following policies:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Group cuLearn training workshops:&nbsp;<\/strong>The EDC offers cuLearn training workshops for TAs. These count towards paid pedagogical training hours (no repeats), are advertised in our semester-by-semester <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carleton.ca\/tasupport\/training\/training-options\/\">workshop schedules<\/a>, and are available for registration via<a href=\"https:\/\/central.carleton.ca\/prod\/twbkwbis.P_WWWLogin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Carleton Central<\/a>. Note, however, that the regularly scheduled cuLearn training sessions <a href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/edc\/services\/ed-tech\/culearn-training\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">listed on the EDC website<\/a> are exclusively for Carleton\u2019s faculty and instructors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>One-on-one cuLearn training:<\/strong> One-on-one training is eligible for pedagogical training hours <em><strong>only if <\/strong><\/em>the course instructor the TA works for confirms via email that s\/he requires individualized cuLearn training. TAs should have confirmation in hand and ready to share with the EDC before scheduling a one-on-one session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Only training sessions\u2014and <em><strong>not<\/strong><\/em> troubleshooting inquiries\u2014count towards hours for paid pedagogical training. We define \u201ctraining\u201d as a targeted overview of cuLearn with the goal of enhancing cuLearn literacy, whereas we define \u201ctroubleshooting\u201d as solving smaller, specific cuLearn issues without an emphasis on skills and knowledge development. The EDC has sole discretion as to whether your interaction constitutes \u201ctraining\u201d or \u201ctroubleshooting.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>TAs can earn a maximum of 1.0 hour towards paid pedagogical training, per year, through one-on-one cuLearn training.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have any questions, please contact the EDC at <a href=\"mailto:edc@carleton.ca\">edc@carleton.ca<\/a> or 613-520-4433.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The EDC is proud to offer cuLearn training support for Carleton\u2019s teaching assistants (TAs).
