We&#8217;ve prepared a pre-term checklist to help you get everything set up, as well as a list of recent updates to the learning management system to help you stay on top of the latest features and their impact to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Preterm checklist<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/brightspace\/instructors\/course-setup-guide\/\">Consult the course setup guide<\/a> to ensure you include all the important course elements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/itsjira.carleton.ca\/servicedesk\/customer\/portals\">Merge your courses prior to adding content<\/a> if you\u2019re teaching multiple sections of the same course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/tls\/2021\/blog-reducing-emails-from-students-with-a-brightspace-course-overview-2-2\/\">Create a course overview tour<\/a> to help your students navigate your Brightspace course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/brightspace\/instructors\/making-courses-visible\/\">Activate your course to allow students access<\/a> as courses are hidden by default when they are created.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/zoom.us\/download\">Update Zoom to the latest version<\/a> to ensure you have access to the newest features, fixes and settings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What\u2019s new with Brightspace?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Basic TA roles will be updated to remove access to quiz questions outside of grading<\/strong>: The basic TA role can no longer access question libraries, preview quizzes, see statistics or manage reports. You can review the complete list of <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/brightspace\/instructors\/roles-and-permissions-in-brightspace\/\">updated permissions and access restrictions here<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sections will be turned off in courses<\/strong>: Students will no longer be able to see their section in a course via the Groups page. They will still be able to see section information in the registrar&#8217;s system.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Access Ventus directly from within Brightspace<\/strong>: Instructors can now navigate directly to Ventus from within Brightspace via the JumpTo menu. The Ventus Faculty Portal allows instructors to book tests and exams, upload exam copies, and view letters of accommodation for all PMC students in their course(s) in a single place.
