  <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Eight projects have been awarded funding through the second round of the&nbsp;<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/tls\/awards-and-grants\/internal-grants\/carleton-university-experiential-learning-fund-cuelf\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">2022-23 Carleton University Experiential Learning Fund (CUELF)<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;to create new and enhance existing experiential learning opportunities for Carleton students.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The projects will provide Carleton students with real-world experiences and include using print-based artifacts to aid student learning, developing computational and simulation modules to provide students with application-oriented skills, and developing counselling and psychotherapy skills using interactive simulations.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Learn about the exciting projects:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Onita Basu<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0(Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering) is launching a pilot project focused on safe and affordable access to water in northern Canadian communities that will pave the way for partnerships and co-training opportunities for students in an engineering projects course.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Martha Attridge Bufton<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0(MacOdrum Library),\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Pamela Walker<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0(Department of History),\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Larry Thompson<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0(Book Arts Lab) and\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Alesya Moshchenskaya\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">(Industrial Design student) are expanding a first-year seminar where students will create historical artifacts (e.g., leaflets, placards) in the Library&#8217;s Book Arts Lab to use in a role-playing game, Reacting to the Past, in which they will explore the USA civil rights movement in the early 20th century<\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">April Fong<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0(School of Journalism and Communication) is expanding a fourth-year business reporting course with a field experience component to allow students to meet key players at\u00a0<\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Logic<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, Canada&#8217;s business and tech newsroom, and tour the Toronto Stock Exchange.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Melissa Frankel<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0(Department of Philosophy) is developing a course that asks students to draw on their understanding of philosophy, children&#8217;s literature, and children&#8217;s well-being to plan, practice, and then implement an interactive lesson to a child-focused community group.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Mako Hirotani<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">,\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Karen Jesney<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Tamara Sorenson Duncan\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">(School of Linguistics and Language Studies) are acquiring mobile EEG equipment that looks at the subtle effects of language processing to provide Linguistics students in the Psycholinguistics and Communication Disorders stream with hands-on lab skills.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Martin Holcik<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">,\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Utkarsh Dang<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">,\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Erling Rud<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, and\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Paul Peters<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0(Health Sciences) are developing placements and practicums to equip the first cohort of students in the new MSc in Clinical Trials and Regulatory Affairs (Health Sciences) with hands-on experience and skills.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Karen Sewell, Brenda Morris, Katherine Occhiuto<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">,\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Sarah Todd<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0(School of Social Work) and\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Ruxi Gheorghe<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0(SIM Social Work Research Lab) are enhancing a fourth-year direct practice course to allow students in the Bachelor&#8217;s and Master&#8217;s Social Work to develop counselling and psychotherapy skills in a low-risk environment through interactive simulations with trained actors.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Yiqiang Zhao<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0(School of Mathematics and Statistics) is developing a six-part series of modules to help
