The introduction of online course development provides solutions for instructor, teaching assistant, and room allocation resourcing issues in addition to providing added flexibly and accessibility to the learning process. The prospect of transitioning traditional, instructor-led courses online has been met with excitement but has also raised some questions such as “Who will own and teach my online course?, “Who provides the course content?”,”Is my course a good candidate for online design?”, and “How much work is involved?”.

To provide you with the information and resources to help you decide whether to transition your course online, the EDC will be hosting a series of webinars over the next couple of months focusing on various online learning topics. A recording of the webinar entitled Incorporating Active Learning Strategies Into Your Online Teaching Environment is currently available for viewing. In addition, EDC will soon be expanding their workshop offerings by facilitating sessions on various instructional design topics. Stay tuned for more information about these webinar and workshop events.

We continue to update the instructional design section of our web site with information such as frequently asked questions about the instructional design process, resources and tools, and our showcase page which features some recent projects that may help inspire you with some course design options for your course.

If you are thinking about the possibilities of delivering your course online, EDC instructional designers can help – contact us!

With the recent launch of CUOL, there has been some buzz around campus about what this means for academic course design possibilities.
