{"id":48938,"date":"2024-02-21T09:16:06","date_gmt":"2024-02-21T14:16:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/tls\/?p=48938"},"modified":"2024-03-05T14:32:39","modified_gmt":"2024-03-05T19:32:39","slug":"eight-experiential-learning-projects-awarded-funding-through-cuelf-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/tls\/2024\/eight-experiential-learning-projects-awarded-funding-through-cuelf-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Eight Experiential Learning Projects Awarded Funding Through CUELF"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Eight projects have been awarded funding through the second round of the\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/tls\/awards-and-grants\/internal-grants\/carleton-university-experiential-learning-fund-cuelf\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">2023-24 Carleton University Experiential Learning Fund (CUELF)<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0to create and enhance experiential learning opportunities for Carleton students.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">We are proud to recognize and celebrate that\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">both CUELF competitions<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0received many outstanding applications for innovative experiential learning initiatives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Learn about the exciting projects below:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Aboubakar Sanogo and Kester Dyer<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> (School for Studies in Art and Culture &#8211; Film Studies) are reinstating the Annual Carleton University TIFF Trip, providing fourth-year undergraduate students in Film Studies with hands-on experience at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Kyle Biggar<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> (Institute of Biochemistry) is leading a project to enhance the BIOC1500 course by merging case-based learning with expert insights across biochemical disciplines.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Lisa Menard and Ryan Lyster<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0(Department of Psychology) are creating a framework to integrate the FUSION program into small courses, extending program reach and creating additional experiential learning opportunities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Lyndsey Hoh Copeland<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> (School for Studies in Art and Culture &#8211; Music) is leading a project offering graduate students hands-on experiences in music archiving, museum curation, and public engagement through workshops and tours at the Canadian Museum of History.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Onita Basu<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0(Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering) is leading a project in collaboration with Yukon University to support water treatment and education in Northern communities, focusing on the Yukon.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Rose Gomar<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0(Department of Systems and Computer Engineering) is leading a project to enhance the SYSC 3320 course by evaluating and implementing the Blackboard FPGA development board and designing new lab experiments.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Sarah Gelbard<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0(Department of Sociology and Anthropology) is collaborating with the Rideau-Rockcliffe Community Resource Centre (RRCRC) to co-produce a community engagement project plan and help students develop their final Capstone Community Project.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Steven Pong<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0(School of Industrial Design) is leading the integration of physical computing (PC) into the School of Industrial Design&#8217;s curriculum to enhance students&#8217; ability to develop user-centred products.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Eight projects have been awarded funding through the second round of the\u00a02023-24 Carleton University Experiential Learning Fund (CUELF)\u00a0to create and enhance experiential learning opportunities for Carleton students.
