{"id":49158,"date":"2024-03-13T11:35:43","date_gmt":"2024-03-13T15:35:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/tls\/?p=49158"},"modified":"2024-03-13T12:00:37","modified_gmt":"2024-03-13T16:00:37","slug":"call-for-proposals-ottawa-carleton-3rd-symposium-on-science-education","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/tls\/2024\/call-for-proposals-ottawa-carleton-3rd-symposium-on-science-education\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Proposals: Ottawa-Carleton 3rd Symposium on Science Education"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Ottawa-Carleton 3rd Symposium on Science Education on April 30 is a venue for communication and collaboration between scholars from Carleton University and the University of Ottawa interested in engaging in theoretical and practical approaches to science education.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The organizers wish to invite the participation of any interested colleagues currently active in SoTL (or not) seeking to engage with this field.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Prospective presenters may contribute a 15-minute talk, 30 or 60-minute round table discussion, workshop, demonstration or poster presentation at the symposium on the\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in Science Education<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. These topics include research in education, best practices, showcasing your work, demonstration (for example, using AI tools for learning), directed discussions (e.g., creating a platform for collaborative education research), etc.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Presenters will need to inform the organizers whether they are proposing:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">An oral presentation (<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">15 min<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0+ 5 min for questions)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">A workshop, demo, round table or other (<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">30 min<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">A workshop, demo, round table or other (<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">60 min<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">A poster<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">If you are interested in participating, please submit a short but descriptive abstract of your proposal (up to 250 words) by\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">March 31<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/saea-tlss.uottawa.ca\/en\/training-and-events\/training-for-faculty-members\/244-ottawa-carleton-symposium\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">using the registration form<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.
