He assisted Professor Laliberte on the project &#8220;Conversion of RC aircraft into UAVs for work as flying laboratories and geophysical survey platforms.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/discoverycentre\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSCF5903.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/discoverycentre\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSCF5903-400x267.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4487\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through this project, Jason had the opportunity to&nbsp;to gain experience working with composite materials, designing weight weight structures, selecting propulsion systems, generating aircraft simulation models, and working with UAV avionics systems. He gained hands-on&nbsp;knowledge of UAV operations as it pertains to geophysical surveying, power plant selection, and the refinement simulator models for training and hardware in the loop simulations through analysis of real-world flight data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/discoverycentre\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSCF5906.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/discoverycentre\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSCF5906-400x267.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4488\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jason Hlang is an I-CUREUS participant in the Aerospace Stream B program.
