This year&#8217;s competition was made possible through Carleton University&#8217;s successful application to the province&#8217;s 2025-26 Training Equipment and Renewal Fund (TERF), which provided dedicated funding to enhance experiential learning opportunities through investments in teaching and learning equipment and infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Together, these projects will create new opportunities for students to learn through hands-on, authentic, and technology-enhanced experiences. Recipients include <strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Aubrey Anable<\/strong> (Film), <strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Adam Barrows<\/strong> (English), <strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Shaghayegh Gomar<\/strong> (Systems and Computer Engineering), <strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Kevin Graham<\/strong> (Physics), <strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Fidel Khouli<\/strong> (Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering), <strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Iain McKinnell<\/strong> (Biology), <strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Stefy McKnight<\/strong> (Media Production and Design), <strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Koreen Millard<\/strong> (Geography and Environmental Studies), <strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Christopher Rowley<\/strong> (Chemistry), and <strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Allan Thompson<\/strong> (Journalism).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Funded projects span four broad themes.\u00a0<strong>Emerging technologies and digital creativity<\/strong>\u00a0projects include motion-capture technology for digital theatre performance, historic video game collections for media history and AI literacy, 3D model-making technologies for immersive storytelling, and mobile-first journalism production tools.\u00a0<strong>Advanced STEM learning environments<\/strong>\u00a0will support hands-on learning in computer engineering, avionics, physics, and materials chemistry through investments in specialized laboratory equipment and new laboratory experiences.\u00a0<strong>Environmental and field-based learning<\/strong>\u00a0projects will expand student access to advanced remote-sensing and environmental monitoring technologies.
