Hog’s Back Fixed Bridge and Dam Rehabilitation

Parks Canada would like to advise that the Hogs Back Fixed Bridge, that spans the Rideau Canal National Historic Site, will be closing to vehicle traffic on May 4, 2020 with an anticipated reopening in late December 2020. This work is part of a larger federal infrastructure renewal project, which will result in improved, safer traveling experiences for bridge users. During the restoration, the fixed bridge deck will be replaced and the pedestrian tunnel on the west side will be repaired. Repairs and a road closure will be in effect until September 2021.

The NCC has published information about all of their major infrastructure projects, including the swing bridge repairs on their website.

Details about the fixed bridge repair are also posted for information.
