Mr. Dattani and his entire family was resettled in Canada in the fall of 1972. His grandparents originally migrated from the Indian subcontinent in the early 1900s and thus his siblings were second generation Ugandans.<\/p>\n
He reflects fondly on his childhood in Uganda recalling his family\u2019s roots in the country. He was educated in India as a mechanical engineer. He returned in 1967 to work the Uganda Sugar Factory in Lugazi before being employed as an engineer for Shell. In 1972 Mr. Dattani applied to be resettled in Canada along with his wife and immediate family.<\/p>\n
Currently, Mr. Dattani is retired after a long career with the Alberta Wheat Pool. He became recertified as an engineer in Canada and has embraced his passion for film by volunteering as a videographer for many years.<\/p>\n
