The Registrar’s Office Silent Pumpkin Auction is BACK!

 

Hi Everyone!

The Registrar’s Office is pleased to share that we will be holding the Pumpkin Silent Auction in support of the United Way for the ninth year. Over the past eight years, we have raised close to $7000 with the help of campus-wide support for this initiative!

If you would like to participate in the silent auction this year, or if you know a creative person who may want to get in on the fun, here are the details:

When will it start/end?

Silent auction starts:                    Tuesday, October 24 at 1:00 pmSilent auction ends:                     Friday, October 27 at 1:00 pm
Drop off location:                         Registrar’s Office, 300 ToryWinner’s pick up:                         Friday, October 27, 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm

*Sadly, in previous years we had some rotting pumpkins that didn’t make it through the week. Therefore, due to the “decay factor,” we ask that any freshly carved pumpkins be dropped off mid-week.

How do I participate?

  • You can bring a pumpkin (perishable or re-usable)
  • Don’t have a pumpkin? No problem, you can also submit a Halloween/pumpkin-themed gift basket!
  • Please complete this form to register by October 20

How do I bid?

  • New this year!
  • Bidding will be cashless through an online auction form

Please contact Gina Darya at ginadarya@cunet.carleton.ca if you have any questions:

  • Your name and contact information
  • Your department’s name
  • Your pumpkin’s name
  • Description of any incentives bundled with your pumpkin and/or craft

Here are a few useful pumpkin carving tips:·

  • Pumpkins can be painted, decorated, or carved (Please note: if you are carving a pumpkin, we’ll ask that you bring it to the Registrar’s Office on October 25 to avoid it rotting).
  • We accept any type of pumpkin or gourde (artificial craft pumpkins accepted).
  • Enhancements/bundles are encouraged (a pumpkin may include a gift a certificate or other items).
  • If you are carving a pumpkin, the fresher the better. (Tip: it helps to slow decay if you wash the insides with a mild bleach solution and coat the cut edges with petroleum jelly).

Lastly, be sure to drop by the Registrar’s Office between October 24 – 27 to see some of the amazing pumpkins and crafts, and to join in on the silent auction fun!
