Ed Kane is a senior leader at Carleton University and within the Finance and Administration division in his capacity as Assistant Vice-President (University Services), a position he has held since 2004. University Services is made up of 11 units with a wide range of services from dining to student and guest services, housing, and all purchasing on campus. He also oversees the ancillary budget of over $121-million. Leading by example, Ed is an active member of the Carleton community and chairs a number of university-wide initiatives. As chair of the Healthy Workplace Committee (which includes Workplace Mental Health), Ed has overseen the implementation and delivery of this initiative which has achieved the Gold Level certification from the Canadian Awards for Excellence, and Bronze Level for Mental Health at Work, and currently we are seeking our Platinum Level in HWP and Silver Level in Mental Health at Work. He is often sought out by Canadian universities and organizations to speak about how Carleton has implemented its healthy workplace and mental wellness initiatives As an experienced Assistant Vice-President, Ed is a key member of the executive strategy planning team at the university. He is also involved beyond the campus in a number of organizations. Currently, he is a member of the Board of Governors for Excellence Canada, and is the Chair of the Canadian Committee for the National Association of College Auxiliary Services. He has chaired several national and international educational, ancillary and purchasing conferences.
