Samuel began his post-secondary education at Seneca College in Toronto (and later Peterborough) Ontario. He was passionate about aviation and aerospace from a young age and set forth to become a commercial pilot. Unfortunately, after obtaining his private license and completing 3 years at Seneca, he was forced to hang up his wings due to some health complications. Still as passionate as ever about the aerospace industry, he found his way to Carleton University, and through some extremely good fortune, the Advanced Aircraft Design research group led by Prof. Lalibert\u00e9. This experience in undergrad fostered an interest in research and also helped solidify Samuel\u2019s long-term goal of eventually becoming a professor himself. His time at Seneca College has also turned out to be invaluable as it provided a solid foundation in the workings and regulations associated with aerospace operations in Canada.<\/p>\n
Some of the research projects he was fortunate enough to be a part of include the design of a novel VTOL UAV, and some airspace modelling work in a partnership with the NRC. One of Samuel\u2019s current interests is in designing aircraft for extreme operating conditions. In 2021 he was honoured to be selected as the Mark Cuss Scholar. Samuel has also worked as an instructor for the cadet program and hopes to continue to foster the next generation of engineers through his TA positions.<\/p>\n
