Rolling Gardening Chair Poster<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

In rural Uganda, 86% of the population rely on subsistence agriculture to feed themselves. People living with disabilities in rural Uganda often struggle to find enough food to survive on, particularly when the task of growing their own crops is full of accessibility barriers. Luis Garcia undertook a project to assist with this problem, endeavouring to design a mobility device specifically to be used for gardening while disabled. The end result is a rolling gardening chair, designed and developed in conjunction with Ugandan craftsman, Kio, and a user tester based in Uganda, Mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rolling gardening chair features a 360 degree rotating chair, a basket holder for collecting crops, a front-wheel steering system, and a propulsion mechanism that functioned with a lever and crank so the chair could move through soft garden soil.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
