My Research Essay seeks to enhance our understanding of the complex social-ecological relationship between human migration and the environment. Mostly I am interested in understanding the complex story of Environmental Refugees as well as Internally Displaced People and the way in which intersectionality inform their identities and experiences. I ought to find ways to adapt the scholarship on Environmental Justice to the question of climate change or environmental migration. The research is intended to summon a reflection on discourse and how different interests hegemonies specific ways of knowing about climate change and affected populations.

In addition to Environmental Justice, my other research interests are: Gender-based violence, African feminism and African women sexuality.

Something you like about the program: As an international student, studying at the Pauline Jewett Institute of Women and Gender studies is the perfect choice for me.  Everyone within our small department was extremely helpful, quickly made me feel like I belonged and I felt home. I have received critical guidance, mentoring and support from the very beginning and throughout my first year. I am grateful that I am also always encouraged to be and express myself.
