Early Math Assessment

Researchers at Carleton are collaborating with school authorities and researchers at other Canadian universities to create useful and affordable math assessment tools.

  • The EMA@School (Early Math Assessment @ School) is a teacher-administered assessment of early numeracy designed for children in kindergarten through Grade 3. It was used with over 25,000 students in Alberta in 2021-2022.
  • The NyKK-5 (Numeracy Kit for Kindergarten Age 5) provides a combination of assessment and intervention tools for kindergarten teachers. It is currently being validated in Quebec.
