On September 21, 2016, BEYOND-Health students Sarah Ambrose, Jason DiMuzio, and Ariel Root attended the Healthy Trees, Healthy City event organized by the City of Ottawa, Tree Fest Ottawa, and Ottawa Public Health. The event featured organizations who focus on environment and healthy living, with main headliner Professor Marc Berman of the University of Chicago. Berman has been researching the health implications of increased urban trees in Toronto alongside partners from the United States, Canada, and Australia. The BEYOND-Health team showcased their study design, results, and implications to city residents, officials, and organizations.
Ottawa’s trees clean our air, improve the health of our residents, beautify our communities, and improve our quality of life.
