Damien Bérubé
Undergraduate Honour's student
Damien works on the CogNGen, a cognitive architecture developed by Dr. Kelly and Dr. Ororbia. He studies modern Hopfield Networks with the goal of implementing one as the memory system of the CogNGen. He also investigates cognitive modelling through the lens of the free-energy principle (a unified brain theory). This investigation includes: (1) the place of emotion in the free-energy framework; (2) a way to derive a form of causal reasoning from the free-energy principle.
Areas of interest:
- cognitive architectures
- artificial neural networks and reinforcement learning
- causal inference
- emotion and decision-making
