Eilene’s work concerns the epistemology of cognitive architectures; how cognitive architectures are theoretically and empirically validated in computational, psychological, and anatomic terms. Currently, she is dealing with the question of what claims can and cannot be made about consciousness, and developing a self-stable learning model, with the aim of ameliorating some of the problems presented by gradient descent with backpropagation of error.
