Adrian Harewood

Adrian Harewood has been a journalist for over a quarter century. He was the host of CBC Ottawa’s drive home radio show All in a Day and then the anchor of CBC Ottawa News at Six. Harewood was also long-time host of the CBC weekly cultural magazine show, Our Ottawa. In 2020, he won the Canadian Screen Award for Best Local Anchor.

Harewood joined Carleton’s School of Journalism and Communication as a faculty member in 2021 and has since created the school’s first-ever course focused on race as well as the first course in Canada devoted to the study of the history of Black Canadian journalism.

Harewood is a member of the Canadian Association of Journalists, the Canadian Association of Black Journalists, and the National Association of Black Journalists. He is a board member of the Writers’ Trust of Canada and of Journalists for Human Rights.
