The College of the Humanities is saddened by the loss of their former colleague, Professor Leonard Librande. Dr. Leonard Librande passed away on September 29, 2020 with his family by his side.

For over 30 years Dr. Librande taught courses in religions at Carleton University and was a central figure in the renewal and reorganization of university in the late 1990’s. This led to the establishment of the role of the Dean of Students, which Professor Librande held from 1998 to 2004, where he was tasked with addressing the student experience from the time of recruitment to their potential career. While Dean of Students, Dr. Librande worked to establish a student-centered culture at Carleton which endures today.

A private graveside service will be held on October 16. Donations to the Leonard Librande Scholarship are welcome. https://futurefunder.carleton.ca/giving-fund/leonard-librande-scholarship/
