Biography
Janet Tulloch is an interdisciplinary scholar teaching in the areas of ancient religions, visual art and material culture. Since completing her PhD, her research has been focused on the cultural history of women in Roman Religions and Early Christianity. Her article on “Gender” in The Eerdmans Encyclopedia of Early Christian Art and Archaeology, edited by Paul Corby Finney (published 1/9/ 2017), is an excellent summary of her findings on this topic. More recently, Dr. Tulloch has been researching 21st Canadian Art that explores or incorporates diverse religious cosmologies. She has been on leave from teaching since April 2016 to conduct her research and to coordinate a large exhibition of night sky imagery at the Shenkman Arts Centre/ Centre des Arts Shenkman in Ottawa for Canada’s 150th Birthday.
