The OCI program supports the collaboration between Academia and Industry to solve industry-based problems and drive the commercialization of Intellectual Property [IP]. The institution will leverage the unique skills and specialized infrastructure that is instrumental to streamline internal innovations and commercialization needs. Resulting in targeted training of individuals and direct engagement with Industry to work on commercially viable solutions.
OCI/Collaborate to Commercialize (C2C) recently shared some social media coverage of Dr. Singh’s labs’ collaboration with PaymentEvolution (a software company based out of Toronto). OCI has helped fund this collaboration.
Highlights:
- Our digital assistant simplifies employment standards compliance for Canadian small businesses with the use of transparent and explainable AI that we created in a partnership between my lab and PaymentEvolution.
- The development of the assistant was a collaboration between software engineers at PayEvo and graduate students in the Department of Cognitive Science at CU (working under the supervision of Dr. Singh).
- With the click of a few buttons, the assistant figures out compliant pay amounts (say, for termination) and also generates a plain language report that explains why the amount is what it is. This is helpful in case there are disputes or audits.Check these out: Departments’ LinkedIn post and a youtube video
