Dr. Genovesi is a contract instructor at Carleton University.
His research focuses on figurative language (metaphor, simile, irony, metonymy, etc.) from a theoretical and empirical vantage. Philosophically, he investigates the role played by semantics and pragmatics in figurative utterances (e.g., “Politicians are snakes”).
He is trained in eye-tracking and ERP technology. These technologies are used to inform his theoretical framework. Dr. Genovesi holds lab positions at both Carleton University (Logic, Language, and Information) and the University of Ottawa (ERP-Linguistics).
Dr. Genovesi was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute for Logic, Cognition, Language, and Information at UPV/EHU (Basque).
