During many years as an aerospace engineer I was exposed to automated systems, such as fly-by-wire, auto-pilots, and full-authority digital engine controls. Chris Herdman’s ACE Lab was an ideal environment to pursue my interests in distributed cognition and human-in-the-loop systems involving intelligent agents, human-computer interaction, and operator cognition.
