cuPortfolio was launched at Carleton as a pilot project in 2015. Two years later, cuPortfolio became an enterprise application on campus serving thousands of students in nearly 100 courses led by instructors who adopted the tool for a wide variety of benefits.
cuPortfolio is now being used far beyond courses by: students for research projects, portfolios built to showcase a students’ employability to employers, by faculty members as digital teaching dossiers and by staff members documenting professional careers.
cuPortfolio can be summarized as a tool which help students:
- Document their learning, skills, accomplishments and progress
- Reflect on their learning and professional growth
- Engage in integrative learning – making connections between academic, professional and personal experiences
- Personalize their learning – take control and be active agents in their own learning
- Identify and articulate competencies developed throughout their education
- Provide evidence of their academic and professional experiences
- Develop an academic and professional identity
