An Invitation To French Studies At Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada
Located in the Canadian capital close to the border of Québec and Ontario, Carleton University is the ideal centre for observing the two national cultures and languages of Canada in action. You can see plays, movies, listen to music, eat authentic cuisine and take advantage of real-life experiences in French.
The French Department offers a full range of courses at the B.A. and Masters levels in the literatures of the French-speaking countries of the world. Literary theory, translation, French linguistics and language training for both native and non-native speakers of all levels allow students to perfect their knowledge of French culture and language.
Students in the Department of French can also benefit from studies in one of the two universities in which honours students are encouraged to spend their third year : Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (Québec, Canada), Université de Chambéry (Savoie, France).
I am proud to be the chairman of this Department staffed by twenty-five teachers and scholars whose publications and research have won acclaim world-wide.
